August 2011 | Melos GmbH – Special compounds supplier makes good progress

As in previous years, the consistent orientation towards niche applications in conjunction with innovative products has further boosted the development of sales. In the first 6 months of the current fiscal year 2011, the company posted a 16.1% increase in sales. The previous fiscal year of 2010 saw the company post sales of 61.5 million, up by 19%.

So near and yet so far – twice
In 2010, SC Melle football club ended up just three points away from top position in the table – at nine points, the gap in 2011 was only slightly bigger. Maybe the players shot just wide of the goal a couple of times more than they should have. But, ultimately, whether your team earns a solid third place or comes in tenth with 17 fewer points, 17 fewer goals and 14 more goals against it, the result is the same: you don’t advance to the higher league.

A new home for the „Ladybirds“
A great new venue has been opened in the town of Melle. It’s great because it has given parents the assurance that their children are safely and lovingly cared for. This fact was emphasised by Pastor Bernhard Julius in an address in which he referred to recent changes in society. As it was now common for both parents to work full-time, he said, facilities of this type were becoming increasingly important.

A project in the heart of Dubai featuring Melos granules has been voted the world’s second most important sports venue by major international sport industry magazine SportsPro.
“The crucial thing to remember is that this is not a list of the best stadiums in the world; it is a ranking of the most important. We took many factors into account, including size, history, modernity and infrastructure, but we also examined the technology of each venue, as well as the versatility, originality and commercial performance,” says SportsPro editor David Cushnan.

April 2010 | From a vision to reality – the Berlin Olympic Stadium

Where did the idea of a blue running track come from and how did this vision become reality, which is today already known as the ‘blue wonder’?
On August 16th, 2009 Usain Bolt ran his fairy-tale world record: 100m in 9:58 sec. – on a surface made from Melos granulate, in a stadium, which from the perspective of design, sets new standards: the Berlin Olympic Stadium. February 2010 | Melos – Practical Innovation at the Highest Level

VDI awards its Science Prize to Dipl. Ing. (FH) Jörn Koonert, Melos Research and Development, for outstanding engineering performance.
Melle / Lingen, 24 Feb. 2010. Top performance and innovations were important topics on the evening of 24 February 2010. The Osnabrück-Emsland regional association of the Association of German Engineers (VDI) had issued invitations to a fireside chat at Kraftwerk Lingen. The high spot of the evening was the presentation of prizes for outstanding performance from the faculty of engineering sciences at the Technical University of Osnabrück, at which one of Melos's employees, Dipl. Ing. (FH) Jörn Koonert, was awarded the first prize.

January 2010 | Melos supplies synthetic granules to Dubai – Meydan City creates new dimensions for equestrian sport

The company Melos from Melle near Osnabrück has dawn international attention to itself by participating in a large project in Dubai. For the construction of the new unique equestrian facility in Maydan City, the company supplied the synthetic granules used to manufacture a floor covering fitted in a tunnel leading to the race course. This was a very special order for the 150 employee company whose main strengths lie in the production of synthetic granules for safety surfaces, athletics tracks and artificial lawns. Melos was also responsible for developing the granules used in the completion of the blue running track at the Berlin Olympic stadium.

April 2009 | Melos says goodbye to the "White Brazilian" Ansgar Brinkmann

After 20 years in professional football, the ex-league player terminated his career with a farewell match in Bielefeld's Schüco arena. For his send-off Brinkmann had invited back former colleagues from his time in the national league. The Brinkmann team was well worth seeing and was packed with former football stars.

Marienfeld - For many years Hotel Klosterpforte in Marienfeld in East Westphalia has been well known among professional football players for its optimal accommodation and training facilities. That is why not only German league teams but national teams from all over the world are regular visitors. Now the four-star+ hotel has made a further leap forward: in close cooperation with the international specialist for sports surfacing, Melos GmbH in Melle, it has created an artificial turf training ground that is the only one of its kind in the world.

14 June 2008 | Melos hosts “Plastics in OWL” industry event

In May this year Melos GmbH hosted the second industry event by the team “Plastics in OWL”. With a workforce of more than 15,000, the plastics processing industry is among the largest employers in the region.
